Accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord & Savior is the only the beginning. There are many things that He wants to do with you and for you- not only when you die, but right now and throughout your life
- The Bible, the book God has given to tell us about Himself, will provide much wisdom, direction and encouragement. To learn what God wants to do in your life, it’s important that you learn what the Bible says (1 Peter 2:2).
Begin with the New Testament book of Philippians, and read a small section each day.
- Before Jesus died, He promised a “comforter” to give us wisdom and make us strong. This personal comforter is the Holy Spirit, who lives in God’s people. Understanding of the Bible and strength to do what is teaches will come as you learn to rely on the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:16).
Ask the Holy Spirit to guide and strengthen you each day.
- Because God made and loves us, it makes sense that He wants to talk to us, and have us talk to Him. This talking to God is prayer. Like conversation with a human person, prayer can include words of friendship, thanksgiving, and requests for help. God calls Himself our Father and, far better than human fathers, He is always waiting to listen, to comfort and to help. Prayer is another essential part of living as a Christian (Philippians 4:6-7).
Speak plainy and simply to God, explaining your daily needs and asking for His help.
- One more thing. You’ll find practical help and personal encouragement among other Christians (Hebrews 10:25).
